How to Fish Swimbaits for Spring Walleyes – Walleye Fishing

Today we are out on a northern WI lake and we are fishing for whatever bites! Spring is a great time of year to be a multispecies fisherman as pretty much everything can be found up in shallow water. Often times bass, walleyes and other gamefish can be found on the same spots during the spring period. Generally we target walleyes but catch a wide variety of fish! Today we are using one of my favorite types of lures to fish for spring walleyes. Although as you can see we take whatever bites! I have been catching a ton of fish this season on the Kalin’s Tickle Tail Swimbait. This video shows how I like to fish this lure for spring time walleyes. Thanks for watching!

  1. Thanks for the swim bait insights and techniques Tom. I have always just pretty much used live bait on walleye and yesterday on opening day I nailed the biggest walleye I have ever caught on the st croix using swim baits for the first time. I'm hooked!

  2. Thanks for your education style of fishing videos and the details you include. I’m 53 years old and have been fishing all my life. There’s a ton of channels out there, but your vision, passion, reliability, variety and quality is only equal to Lindy and other top professionals. You have a new I pad subscriber here and I want you to know I appreciate you, Shelby and Surly (surly?). Keep up the good work dude! You’re the man, LOL!

  3. Thank you for all the extremely informative videos for the last 2 years. My walleye fishing went next level with your tactics and knowledge. Maybe we can share a boat once again this summer or fall. Thanks for everything

  4. Ever fished Chetek or Rice Lake or surrounding area? Any walleye hotspots you can share? I am trying to help my son catch his first walleye and I have yet to catch one myself. The lakes are so big, I don't know where to start or what bait to use first. We do have a boat and a down imaging Hummingbird Helix. A lot of where we go has a weedy bottom and the bottom jigging is tough.

  5. Hey Tom, I'm going up to northern Wisconsin today. What's the best size jigs for paddle tail swimbaits? The lake is 5-15 feet in most areas with alot of humps and holes all over. Also what size Lindy weights are good for drifting those depths?
