What gear ratio do you recommend for big glidebaits just got my first one looking for a reel but idk what ratio to get please help
What reel are you using for the magdraft?
I tell people all the time who are getting into swim bait fishing it’s hard to beat an S Waver cause it’s super easy to fish and affordable
Thank you for the help and I live in central Indiana and I’m going to have to get these 2 baits. I have been throwing the little creeper trash fish in the 6 inch
Alex you were using game changer rods? What happened?
Have you thrown the Gantarel Jr.?
Thanks for the tips! I will be throwing big swimbaits for the first time this year!
I've been using the S waver 168 for structure fishing for a couple years now. The guys over at TacticalBassin turned me on to them in the light trout color a while back. Great bait and a great company! Thanks for a great video!
I just ordered a 10”monster money shad from 30acre baits. I hope it doesn’t scare all the fish off when it hits the lake like a cannon ball 😂I hope one of these Florida bass will try to eat it 🤷🏻♂️
Would you think a med hvy rod pair with shimano curado k 200 could throw a s waver 168?
Alex, back a while you were using the Diawa Tatula 200 hd for swimbaits that would be max 6 oz. Do you still feel that is a solid option? Specially on like a Dobyns 795sb? I know you love Lew's and use them alot.
what rod would you recommend for the 120 size s-waver?
Brand new to fishing, age 53 decided to start kayaking and found some fishing from kayak videos BOOM I'm hooked. I haven't actually fished from the kayak yet lol all from Bank but I'm hooked, pun intended. Found Flukemaster then found you from the live and I've been wanting to learn more about big baits. Ordered a extra heavy 8'6", coming tomorrow, now I need a reel. Thanks for all you do, I know doing these videos takes a ton of work.
I have an S waver, but I havent caught anything on it. Do you spool your whole reel with that line? Also, do you think it makes a difference throwing a spinning reel vs. a baitcasting combo when big swimbait fishing? The reason I ask is because I've never tried fishing a baitcaster, but I'm interested in your thoughts. Any recommendations for a beginning baitcaster reel?
Your the man as always. Straight to the point!
Do you ever have a problem snapping that 20lb line? I’m always over cautious about losing expensive baits which is probably why I don’t catch many fish on them…lol
I used to throw a six inch castaic trout swim bait in a reservoir back when I lived in Colorado and the bass would hammer it. There was another castaic trout swim bait I bought with some crazy action to it and I had a bass slam it and that bait was ripped up after one fish. Not bashing the company but some certainly don’t hold up. Believe it or not those storm six inch shad baits catch bass too and they are priced low.
Maybe it’s because I am older but at the end of this summer I threw a spro rat one night and man I was sore the next day.
I have a river 2sea glider and only used it once, and want to use it more but been working too much ! I am interested in filing mine as well, I would imagine you don’t have to file very much right ? 32nd, 1/16 ???
Thanks for your awesome vids Alex
Would a Lews TP white heavy, 7'6" flipping/A-rig work for those baits?
You are a wealth of knowledge. Have you ever considered writing a book? Or a series? I will have to share this later, it’s way too early to be texting my buddies 😂. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge. Appreciate you.
Not first! lol.
The cost of those big swim baits is what makes me hesitate.
I’ve been wondering about this also, but hadn’t asked since I do most of my fishing from the bank I didn’t know if it was worth getting another setup and then pricey swim baits if i hardly ever fishing from a boat. I just haven’t seen a lot of big swim bait bank fishing. Nice video Alex 👊🏻
thanks Alex
Hey Alex, have you ever tried any of the muskie swimbaits and gliders? Like medussas and hellhounds.
As a guy that has gone pretty deep into the big bait game over the past 2 years, I gotta say that there is a lot of variation in technique depending on what type of swimbait you throw… paddletail, wedge tail, line-thru, wakebait, crankdown, glide, multi-piece swimmer all have their own nuances and optimal situations.
I have a TranX 301A and a Lew's 300 Super Duty, the Lew's fishes on par with the Shimano.
Great info Alex!!!!! Thnx!👊🏼💥
I’ve been wanting to grab a Super Duty. Cabela’s has the wide spool on sale right now. Do you think a 6.4:1 reel will get the job done throwing swimbaits?
Whelp, that’s another outfit I’m going to have to get at some point. 😉 As always, thanks for the tips. Tight lines, buddy.🎣🎣🎣
I love swimbaiting and really enjoy fishing the hard baits but I need to try the magdraft! I also have a matt lures hammertail and a hudd but haven't caught anything yet on them.
Thanks for putting this together. A buddy of mine almost exclusively throws big swims and I’m trying to find the confidence to do it. This helps for sure 👏🏻
Would you throw a 10xd with that rod ?
March 2015, S-waver 200 (Party Crasher) – 8lbs 10oz PB largemouth from Table Rock Lake, also won a bass club tournament in 2014 with it.
The Magdraft (6", 8" and new 6" Freestyle) is always in the lineup, and the Freestyle currently owns my 2019 best Largemouth (21.25" long, 6lbs+) .
Great straight forward content! Keep up the good work!
Love the video brother! Maybe one day I’ll step out of my comfort zone and get a monster swim bait
This is a video I’ve been wanting to request forever and you just nailed it man. Great tips keep at it.
gosh I been throwing a big swim bait all day on Kentucky lake trying to get that get that big fish.
I like throwing the glide bait in the deep clear lakes where I live in WNC. I have had a lot of success throwing
Oh yea my dude , this is my next step in fishing lol. Just got my David Fritz Crank Bait rod with the 5.6:1 Lew's Tournament MB reel. Now about to get a huge swim bait set up. Thanks brother
I have pretty limited experience with hard swimbait, in fact I have only caught a few bass throwing them. It seems to me that these jointed, hard plastic, swimsuits are very limited in their effective depth range. Is this also your experience with them?
Hey that’s a pretty sweet video you got there. I started off throwing the S waiver 168 for the past year. Just picked up a savage gear shine glide 7 1/2 inch, just picked up a bait sanity antidote glide, and I am waiting on my storm Arashi glide to arrive as we speak. Keep chucking them big baits.
Great video I want to
Learn the bull shad
Here in East Tn. do you find these swimbaits work better on particular lakes or do they do the job on the majority of lakes in this area ? i bought both styles , cant wait to try them out
Great video Alex! I just got into swimbaits this year and bought both of those baits! Great tips and advice buddy, you are spot on! Keep up the great work and tips!
Yes!!! Been waiting on this video. Great video man. I will look into that. I'm all lews now for reels appreciate it
Thank you so much you have helped me catch my pb (just over 6 pounds) and you have made me a very good angler at 13 years old. Keep up the good work you are my favorite and best angler EVER!!!!!!!!
