Never caught a smallmouth in april until i started throwing a ned rig panorama 3.5
Jusy got back from a principally large mouth bass lake in ny. Got three really nice small mouth… Two of them were hogs. Got them on a chatterbait with a spunkshad trailer and a whopper plopper. Man was it fun! Those fish know how to fight and when you hook a big one its a moment that made the 12 hiur each way commute and the cold wind and rain worth it
Some my best large mouth have come by ripping a spinner. It's a fun and productive way to fish!
Hi Randy, I have an off-topic question for you… do you think the Minn Kota Ultrex electric steering spooks bass? The electric steering is noisy on the Ultrex and it's hard to be stealthy in a quiet cove. Thank You.
Thanks for the tips. How would you rig a tube for rocky creeks to lessen the snags? I realize it’s part of the game but MAN for some reason tubes get hung up way more than Neds for me.

Randy, good selection, I use but you forgot a time tested smallmouth lure. I began using them in 1965, #3 and #4 Mepps gold with a buck tail. Killer in late April to mid June.
