  1. A hat trick is a smallmouth, largemouth, and striped bass?
I think you have it wrong. Remove the striper and add a spotted bass. Thats a real hat trick. Completely different genus mate.

  2. Brooks, back when I was a kid 40 years ago the drag systems did not work very well with spinning reels and light line. The art of back reeling put just the right amount of pressure to hook, fight and land big fish. Also the spinning reel spool setup will twist line as fish pull drag and you wind, in return line failure.Back reeling eliminates all of that. After understanding back reeling I have not had a line break on me in many many years. Hope this helps

  3. Not even that there's even much current, they're just plain spunky! I love the baby shad by the way, they're easily the most productive lures I keep in my tackle box.

  4. MrDjones, I will agree with you on that. I have found that bass in just a little current increases their fight 10 fold. Thanks for watching

  5. I'm not disagreeing with your point but I have noticed that the amount of fight in largemouth bass varies between different waterways. Some of the creek bass I've caught will make you think you've got a trophy on the line. lol

  6. Although I fish for largemouth bass frequently, I think they are a poor game fish compared to fish like smallmouth and pike. Smallmouth, although smaller than largemouth, fight infinitely harder, and pike do all kinds of crazy leaps once you hook them…Largemouth just give up so quick. Especially with the 65 lb braid I see all these guys using to catch 3 lb bass…Smallmouth will always be my favorite bass to fish for. The only reason largemouth are given more attention is b/c they're bigger

  7. billy brooks,

This lake gets hammered, NBW tournament today was won with 3 fish for 10 pounds (3 pounders are gold sometime) happens at all the lakes.

  8. Im sure its decent size, but any camera will make the fish look small unless its a complete giant. You just have to take their word for it that its a good fish lol. Although he got too excited and waited too long to reel the damn thing in.

  9. Arayanrevenge,

Two thoughts on that, Hat Trick is the act of 3's. Some guys will travel for 3 types of bass (SMB, LMB, Kentucky, RedEye, Shull, Spots and so on. At a lake that only has 3 types of bass like DVL catching all 3 is a feat sometimes, so that would be a hat Trick for me. Others may not 😉
