stayed to see rigging options/tips because I have the 110 size, for the rigging
I was unsure the best way to keep it straight and swimming right.
This bait really works. I catch a lot of fish with the 90 and the 110 size I use the screw hook side hooked and the nail weight just like he says.
I know this video old bt I’m learning lures this year because I’m a live bait user… if the bait look injured gives you a better chance in my opinion… bt I’m definitely a fan and soaking up your knowledge

i just put the nail weight in stomach and side rig it and boom stright
I wondering you guys in the US often use lower then 20lbs braid, I only use 12lbs for bfs fishing, normally 20-25lbs braid is perfect imo for any bait from 3g for distance and swimming action

Weighted weedless wacky rig hooks work for the Gilly.
Tyler, I don't know if you tried this, anyway the pouch on the top put a little piece of foam in there and put a tiny bit of super glue to close the pouch. I got on some bedding bass, I had a great day. Ike has a video about it.

I'm going to try the line through with a rivet pinhead and have a treble hook, not sure if it'll skip with the treble or not
I know there are a hundred ways to fish this Gilly lure but i had read that Berkley designer Mike Iconelli wanted this to look like a wounded bluegill, hence the side hook up. Just saying.
Better watch out for Berkley. They have shaken the lure business!
Didn't Berkeley make a prior version of this bait? It didn't have the waffling on the sides like the gilly does but otherwise looked identical, except I believe they were weighted and pre rigged. I have some of them in an old tackle box I had forgotten about and rediscovered a couple days ago. Pretty sure they're Berkeley. If so, any recommendations for using or modifying that version? Anyone else have these?

I bought the 90 today and ready to try it. Nice cool cloudy day in S. Ga
2 or #3 screw in hook with nail weight and the take a small piece of foam and pack it in the little pouch on the top of the gilley. Tyler…this cause the gilley to stand up straight and also makes it look like it is feeding on something on the bottom when fishing in beds. I caught a 6 pounder and a few smaller ones doing this method, a little secret I learned years ago, get a small piece of Alka seltzer and put it in all your plastics, using like a larger creature bait and take a knife, cut a small slice in it, put the Alka seltzer in it and let it work on the bottom, especially when bedding..the bubbles drive the bass crazy..it pisses them off and they will go after it..learned it from my grandfather 👍
