So growing up we would go camping at Jordan Lake NC when we were kids. Well, one time we decided to swim out the bait instead of casting it. Well thinking we were about to catch the biggest catfish in the world, instead we catch a huge bass close to the size of the last one. We were so freaking happy/excited

The small bass reminds me of when I was fishing for strippers and got a 14 inch spot that eat a 11 inch lusre, and I mean it swallowed the lure but got lucky it got the hook in the jaw.

Had the same reaction to a 7lb Largie I caught out of a small pond in a community center park not too long ago. I was tossing a red-eye shad lipless crank and just slowly bobbing it up and down and WHAM I was on it. I thought maybe it was a catfish because it really wasn’t fighting like a bass but I saw it jump and I was absolutely gobsmacked that such a nice fish was in a small pond.
