Kayak fishing the Daingerous Swimbait in Arkansas

I recently purchased a 2 pack of the Bass Mafia Daingerous Swimbaits in the Blackback Shad color and the 7 inch size. I am not sponsored by Bass Mafia and this was a purchase with my own money just because I am a big fan of Chris Zaldain. I fished this bait one other time before this trip and only caught one fish the entire day, it was on this bait.

I came back on a pretty horrible post frontal day when the temperatures were in the low 40s to high 30’s and the wind was brutal.

I fished about three hours without a bite, throwing traditional baits like the wobble head jig, a flat sided crankbait, and a jerkbait with no luck. Finally I picked up the Daingerous Swimbait and found some offshore fish willing to munch on it.

The swimbait comes un-rigged and I paired it with a Trokar TK170 Magnum Weighted Swimbait Hook in 7/0 and 3/8 oz.

I also was testing out a new rod the Eagle Claw 7′ 9″ Heavy/Fast in their EC3.5 Pro Series line. This is one of my sponsors, but none the less this rod was amazing. I felt every fish when she ate the bait, and had great hook sets on fish that ate my bait at the end of some long casts. It was easy to cast this 7″ bait and it’s also super light weight so it didn’t tire me out like the other swimbait rods I own. This is also a rod that I’ll be using for some jig and Texas Rigged plastics fishing as well, as it seemed very sensitive.
