This is the process I went through to finish this Big Shad SwimBait.

We need a update video on this big shad swimbait to make it official.
Hi Marling! Here's something I'd like to see you do! Try useing the stiffer side of a feather for the splines of fins? The natural arch of the feather lends itself to the shape of the back of a fish. The splines want to lay flat, close to the stem of the feather. Just flare them out and make them stand up. Lay it on tape flared out, and paint a thin layer of epoxy! Makes for great realistic looking fins!
I just wanted to say thanks for the years of sharing your great ideas! I'm a fan, truly!
From LOL Lures (that's "Labor of Love") Scot Love.
Dude!! that is the weirdest montage music I've ever heard. what is it. some kind of Russian thing?
Does it matter where you put weight? Is that what makes the bait glide? Or putting weights in makes it glide?
I would buy a bag of red tail gummies.
Final update: this little reel is the little engine that could https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e . It performed flawlessly and was easy to adjust drag in the moment while I was battling a 35lb bat ray behemoth. Mind you, this reel is spooled with only 25 lb braid and 25 mono topshot. It's paired with the kastking telescopic heavy power rod and the two work well together. This has now earned my respect and confidence when traveling and fishing. If you have ever hooked into large rays and sharks, you know they pull extremely hard and can run forever! This thing clamped down on the fish and was easy to adjust during the fight. It has a nice decently fast retrieve as well. Twice the fish went on mad runs and I was able to gain back line quickly to avoid spooling.
I tie my own flies and If I need some better thought into what I'm making I come watch your videos for better ideas and painting mashes. You inspired me. Thank you very much
Cool lure
Hi, Nate. I just re-watched this one (as well as Part 1). Could you PLEASE give us your thoughts about "door-hinge" joints vs. the more conventional "V" joints? I recently tried the door-hinge approach on a big (9") two-joint saltwater swimbait, and I was amazed at how much quicker and more straightforward the build was. But the tupelo shad that you made a mold for here is one of very few door-hinge baits you've turned out over the years. Is that because you actually prefer "V" joints? Best, Chris (in Maine).
Will you sell me one of these blanks?
Alright, honest interest…who is playing that clarinet? Impressive ability in emotion expression via reed, very well done.
that music gave me anxiety
Please sell blanks to us lol I’ve been wanting to get ahold of some of your glide baits
does he realize how much guys on lake fork would pay for that thing
That aint a big shad
That is a gigachad
Can you do a Trump Jerkbait?
Looks so real
I would buy a few rough molds if you sold them. No sending, just cutting off the sprues and the vent remnants. Like a more affordable Marling Baits option
Crazy détails
Can I purchase this?
Id be in just pour ill do the sanding and finishing
How much for this one or could we trade
That is perfection right there, love the colors reminds me of a greyling without the glorious dorsal fin.
Great work. My wife dropped by to compliment your musical selection.
The Artic Grayling would be a good one.
I think he is in a place in red dead redemption 2 at the end. 12:16
My river bass would eat that up! The Gar would too though. 😬
What do you use for clear coat
Can u make a really tough lure that would stand up to our blue fish here in New england? They tear everything apart I've lost and ruined alot of beautiful expensive striper lures to bluefish.
do you place a sleeve for the connection pins??
Looks like a big bass catcher to me!
I'd buy one or 5 lol depending on prices
Can’t wait to see it catch a fish! I’d totally sign up for sanding duty btw…
6:37 please do that!
I’d lose this on the first cast.
What about using google eyes
Worst, most annoying music EVER. VERY distracting.
The bait was great though!!
Was that you practicing clarinet in 5th grade.
I'll buy an un-sanded version to save you some work! Slow sinking please! Also….never use that montage music again lol
When i paint mu lures that got scales i always start with black gives it more depth i think 😁 btw that montagemusic was terrible almost couldnt watch it with sound 🤣🤣
Damn i literally just got sunburned yesterday Florida doesn't have those issues
PLEASE MAKE A UNICORN BAIT!
Ok bro we need to talk… I’ve been watching for like 3 years now … but what is that music.I finally found the courage to tell you that it’s not great
How do you clean your airbrush between colors
You should make a top water boat lure that has a prop on the back!
Lure suggestion: Spinno Minno developed by Violet VanBuren in 1944, has a spinner mounted in a hole in body of bait.
It would be hilarious if a fish just bit as you were casting
You should try a rooster tail bait or multiple of them
I enjoy each video you put out, but please don't ever use that music again haha
Have you ever used fat lighter wood?
