My most expensive spinning rod is 7 foot and its my least favorite. 6- 6'10 light tips or medium light tips so you can feel everything. Also it makes casting very accurate. Best all around poll. You only need a medium if you only throw heavy baits but then again I prefer my baitcaster for really heavy baits. I'm 6'4 and a 7 foot poll is huge. For kids 7 foot rod is very big. They are more likely to hit the ground, tree or brush when casting around lakes and ponds that are not completely manacured. Just my opinion of 30 years I'm sure there is some 7 year old out there who only uses 7 foot rods from the start and thinks they are just fine. I think beginners should start smaller and work their way up to see what they like.

U ever tried bobby Garland baits they like a dollar at Walmart but me and my daughter caught 2 nice bass back to back on the electric chicken mini swimmers
I have lots of luck this time of year throwing the smallest Bass Pro XPS lipless crank. You should give it a try. Also, if you are trying to catch crappie, throw a Bobby Garland on a 1/32 or 1/24 jig head. Put a small weighted float a foot and a half above your jig and slow roll it.

Crappie likes them bright colors, change that white one out and you’re have better luck
I reel it nice and slow with twitches once and awhile. Just depends on if there biting. It not I try a lil of everything until something works lol

When I microlure fish I like using a bobber and a 1/16 jig and a small swimbait and I let it sit in one spot for like 10-15 secs sometimes less and twitch it back to me, similar to crappie fishing

for crapie use live minows and a bober i go to a pond and catch any where from 5 to 10 crapie on that so u should try it.
We just went fishing me and my 2 bros and my dad and i caught 3 baby bass on worms and my older bro caught a 9 or 10 inch bass and we caught a ton of bluegil.

If you want to really do micro fishing, drop down to a ultra light rod and 2 lb test.

A 1/4 oz blade bait is what i would call a micro lure which will absolutely smack the dinks and get occasional decent ones in cold water
