Do your research and you'll find that Irod is rumored to be behind the build.
HARD PASS
No double footed guides
Tiny hook keeper in a horrible spot
Only 90 day warranty
Refuses to disclose any info on blank or materials used
And they're heavy AF! The 834H model weighs 11.3oz!!
Go look on their page, they're all still in stock
Really????? 90 day warranty? Also we need to know where these rods are built and by who. For $500 it better be one of the top rods builders in the USA
Never used WCZ product so i have No bone in this fight lol. but with the comments im more so just curious what people will say in 2 years after reviews are out… will this comment sections eat its words or will the $500 90 warranty red flag hold true?
Shit look cheaper then a temu product. 90days warranty? What a joke!.. JDM FTW
Mike Gilbert and Mike Long. Buddies with no warranty lol
Doesn’t list what blank there using nor the guides and reel seat other than “Fuji “ on top of a 90 day warranty?? Absolute foolery for 500 bones . Better options out there that have been put through the paces and proven
Always cracks me up when the varial handle is more expensive than the reel hahaha
Rod looks cool but a bit expensive for being a new rod
What makes these so special then the dobyns rods they got better warranty and a better price
Chinese?
I don’t understand this. I feel like people bash fly fishing for the price markups close to 10x. But with fly fishing, the rod and your line are everything. Oh, and you usually get a very good warranty.
The appeal of conventional rods are the lower price and having one for every style/bait. The reel is the key to line control and accuracy. This is harsh, but I hope no one buys these.
$500 with only a 90 day warranty. Thats gonna be a hard sell.
No cork…psh…
You know what…I'm not here to argue you with everyone online. But just think about it…put yourself in Mike's position, small company ran by a swimbaiter. Putting a rod out there is not going to be cheap at that level. Your buying a custom product. No huge sponsorships or collabs as far as I know. Would it be nice if he said what blanks were used….yes. But WCZ has never done anything to not trust the brand and what they stand for. Your apart of the development of a new custom product. Pretty badass in my opinion. Not telling anyone they have to agree. Just look at it that way.
I am a bougie fisherman, I own the newest versions of the following: Conquest MD, Antares DC MD, Steez A II, Exist, Steez AGS rods, P5 Destroyer rods and several DRT Varial handles. I think WCZ makes good swimbaits, I own several Tyrant 8's and 10's and will buy the dropout when it's released but I can't justify the price for this rod because they have yet to be proven and the warranty period is so short. I will wait for reviews on forums before I think about buying one. Also, craftsmanship and aesthetics plays a large part in why I enjoy high-end gear and these rod's fall a bit short of my expectations at this price point. Ben, you have the connections in Japan, please tell Megabass to make a high-end swimbait rod that is 8'3-8'6 in length for beast hook rigged swimbaits!
Great rod? Yessir.
Warranty? 90 days. No sir.
do you know what would be cool? If you sold the soft baits to throw on that rod… I see them listed for years but never in stock..
Who made the blanks?
So when will the baits be back in stock? Emailed weeks ago.
Let's also appreciate that Mike would be a great basketball coach – he always makes me want to get back out there!
Would rather go the new Expride route. Far better bang for your buck.
Amazing looking rod !! Congrats guys
!!
The warranty is shockingly bad. You can get a P5 almost for this price. Crazy. I love WCZ and Mike but the warranty makes this a hard pass.
What's the blank that this rod is build on? For $500 one would want to know!
I was stoked for the rods but $500 is out of my budget. What makes this rod so expensive compared to others? Is it just a smaller manufacturing operation or the components?
“Working class” zero. 0 dollars left in your account if the rod breaks on the 91st day
So stoked for these rods! Mike is the type of guy that wouldn’t release something unless they are perfect in his eyes. So, I know these rods are going to be amazing. I just picked up a H, and I can’t wait to use it.
working class rods please they should be called the white collar rods or silver spoon rods a 5 hundred dollar rod is not working class
Not priced for the traditional “working class” people
90 day warranty for a $500 rod!?!?!?! No thanks
I understand it’s not a big manufacturer making these things. However, I think the biggest downfall of this rod is the warranty for the price point. Honestly, I think there would be so many more guys buying this if the warranty wasn’t 90 days. If you stand by your product, it would be so much longer of a warranty. Guys value his mindset, his thought process behind the rod, the details and all. Again, the warranty is not very great for our peace of mind at all. Just my two cents.
Holy shit there’s a new rod to buy every week bruh……
For the price point, custom is a good option
Gloomis better
Finally got my 2 end game Swimbait rods
Awesome content keep up the good work
What fluorocarbon brand and pound should you be using with these rods?
what blank is it built on
