I've never found a drop shot to be necessary to catch anything. I've never used a drop shot and never will. Finesse fishing isn't defined by a drop shot. Every time you throw a hook into gras or any kind of brush it's going to get hung up!! You've just thrown something that's meant to snag in a pile of snageable junk, I wish people would stop saying it won't get hung up, avoid getting hung up!! That's dumb, it's going to get snagged. Now you may be able to release it but it's going to snag.
Dude this is absolute music to my ears especially when he is talking about high-pressure fishing. There is a spring fed pond about 25 minutes from my house with some absolutely monstrous bass, I'm in ohio and it had 5 pounders all day long which is pretty damn good around here. No matter when you show up you will see at least 3 or 4 guys throwing big ass baits and not catching jack shit. That little drop shot or ned rig though will bring in the monsters all damn day.

Lunker logs weightless on a 3/0 hammer you're set. A lil juicee jig can work wonders as well. Probably the two I lean on for my area.
