Maybe I'm wrong, but I always thought that the main reason japanese people started using feathered hooks was to hide the hook, because lakes in Japan have a huge fishing pressure. Of course it also mimicks the fins moving and while it hides the hook it gives a focal point for the fish to hit.
What material do you use on the hooks for your rats?

Looks like you’ve been doing this for years. These are the small details that everyone is trying to figure out when they are throwing the same bait without custom hooks and can’t get bit. Try new things that these fish have never seen… be creative and you will get results.
