My Profile:
http://www.mattstefanfishing.com/

I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I’ve been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I’ve qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.

  1. Damiki armor shad, MB Spark Shad both work very well but wasted in one or two fish. The Largo Shad is working on being my favorite 3", holds up just slightly better.

  2. I've found just trimming up the boot tail section on a keitech style bait makes it tight action more like the easy shiner. Just trim it up. And it'll save ya money on buying multiple baits. I've been playing with my hover rigs more. Still figuring out the best retrieves from the bank. Shallow water. Still trying different baits on them. I've found a a slight shake with a slow reel kinda like Alabama shake retrieve works good in the cold water with a straight tail bait (baby z too.)

  3. hey Matt! totally agree there’s a time in a place for each one. I seem to have better luck with the easy shiner in the winter due to the cold water and wanting tighter action. A fairly new one that’s taking over a lot on Lanier is the Cast prodigy. I would be curious to get your take on the bait. It has great action and very durable to boot. I think they started in the saltwater world and moved over to freshwater. thanks!

  4. Matt. This past summer, I used Eurotackle Finesse B-Vibe 2” inch in Blugill and Sexy Shad color with a #4 tungsten jig from Zako. Next, the Donkey Tail Jr from Mule Fishing in two colors: blue/purple and brown/orange. The secret of this bait lies in the tail. Its like a small rectangle tail with a very tight and narrow swim. Very quiet. It catches everything.

  5. I always carry around 1 light and dark color swimbait, really helpful when is come to fishing tough conditions! Matt what are your go to color If you have to pick 4?

  6. Great video. Thanks for sharing. I love the Little Dipper and easy shiner. I use them for everything. I’m still on the hunt for a third one to mix in because the Little Dipper at times is hard to get so it’d be nice to have a backup.

  7. I like the MB spark shad when I want a tight tail kick and a more horizontal presentation- they work exceptionally well with an underspin. I also started experimenting with the Deps Frilled Shad last season and I was really surprised how well it worked on the Tenn. River system. If you look at the profile and action of the Frilled Shad- it looks a lot like the little skipjack minnows in the Tenn. River- and the bass love eating skipjacks. I paired it with the Down underspin from Cool baits and even on days when no one was getting bit- I did pretty well. Always kills me how you can be fishing on the boat with someone who isn't catching anything- you're catching fish- but they refuse to put on what you're using. That my brother though- he watched me catch fish all day while he stubbornly refused to put down his T. rig and join the fun. But hey, to each their own I guess.

  8. Can you put these 3 inchers on a 2.8 grams or 1/16 th ounce ( smallest ) football jighead with all that skirt..? I'm new to jigs and finesse .. side note , recently encountered a thousand perch ( my ytube short from other day lol ) and was jigging this minnow on a 1/2 ounce JDM jighead and they were trying to eat it but couldn't fit in mouth despite some being close to 8 inches or more length ? πŸ˜‚

  9. Another good one! I was also curious of your tackle storage system, lots and lots of money and hate to see stuff rust or go bad before you even use it, what’s some tips on keeping our investments safe I guess is my question
