  1. When I used to fish in Florida I was using a frog lure along a weed bed and had a small 12 " or so gator grab the frog . As I was reeling in the frog lure and attached gator , an about a 10 pound bass grabbed it and then there was a really fun contest between the fish and my medium weight spinning gear . With the bass landed with a really pissed off gator I got the fish and the nearly dead gator released . A 10 pound largemouth in central Florida is not unusual and I have caught enough of them to be close to guessing the frog gator fish at a 10 pound range . Florida bass fishing is not better or worse than in other regions , only different .
