In this video, my pal Henry and I are using a 14 inch monster swimbait in search of HUGE fish! This swimbait is almost one pound, and we are throwing it on huge musky gear.
It takes about 90 minutes and we get a strike for a 100 lb plus monster, and the catch and release of this giant fish on such a lure is SO COOL!

Dude that pole so bad spot to fish
@4:56 scared the crap outta me lol
What a beautiful gal~ The release was as exciting as the fight.
Gar seem to be “ opportunivores” Meaning if the opportunity arises to eat something they’re gonna do it.
My Dad had a book about fresh water fishing in North America. The book was probably put together in the late 1950’s. This book had beautiful illustrations as well as a few photos of different fresh water fish. That book had photograph in there of two men that had landed an Alligator Gar on the shore. Seeing it’s size in comparison to the men was astounding. From that point on I would dream of catching an Alligator Gar. This great fish seemed like an elusive dragon from a fairytale. My imagination led me to believe anything could be lurking in the mysterious depths of our lakes and rivers. Seeing you handle this great fish took me back in time. The memories of fishing with my Dad and Grandparents came flooding back to me. Maybe one day I’ll get a chance to see one of these Gar up close. Thanks for sharing. Thank you for respecting the great fish.
What an absolutely gorgeous creature. Such a beautiful fish!
She's a six footer alright!
Beautiful release

The "Pike" is a Muskie as its the only one with the bars although neither are bright green but that's a badass looking bait
I know I know you just wanted to make it more challenging well good on ya lol
And now I have to ask myself why did you park your boat there why? I said that with a southern accent, by the way
Been fission for big fish for 60 years or since I was 10. I always lost a few feet of line before I tight on every trip just to be safe.
If that luer was any bigger you could strap a go-pro on it
Well, now we know why they're called NORTHERN Pike. What a beautiful gar! One day, so help me, I'm going down south and tying into a few of those. And thank you so much for respecting the fish like that.
Come one guys fishing or playing
This is the small version! We have the bigger version in the netherlands of 55cm. Pikes murder these things like its nothing.
