Original Castaic Swimbait Boot Tail with Kelly Puppo

Welcome to a special look at the dialogue we have en route and during our adventures as we search for the fish of our dreams.

We are going to do a series of dialogue videos with our friend Kelly Puppo of Southern California, who’s been the young up and comer in the west coast bass fishing scene in the 70’s, 80’s and a seasoned veteran through the 90’s, 00’s to current day. Much respect to him and those like him for being true pioneers. We can all learn so much from these gentlemen.

Kelly digs through his bag, full of Original Castaic Boot Tail swimbaits!

Make sure to subscribe for more continued coverage from Kelly’s stash! #BigBassDreams

  1. Someone seriously needs to write a book about the California bass scene, trophy and tournament fishing history 70's 80's 90's and early 2000's…you all are the cutting edge, and that history and information will  be lost to future generations if not preserved somehow…

  2. I have a couple of old school Castaic's…pre new packaging! I think I'll take them out for a spin! thanks for this very interesting and a wealth of knowledge; I remember the things Kelly is talking about, 70's 80's vintage, really cool.

  3. Too bad the Castaic lures have gone to serving big-box stores. I have tried numerous ones of the new style and not one would track true. Always laid over on one side or the other. Another good vid!

  4. Another sick video man, appreciate you're work brother. I saw you fish with milikin and I'm on the other side of nebraska from him and we have a lake on the west side of nebraska called lake McConaughey in Ogallala Nebraska and it holds giant smallies. A lil secret

  5. Castaic back when they were a good swimbait producer used to have affordable swimbaits , Now Savage Gear makes affordable swimbaits , hudds are little more exspensive but still affordable, Is it worth the money and get one really expensive swimbait or buy a handful of affordable ones like the 3d trout , shine glide , or even a few s waivers or hudds, Trying to get more into swimbait fishing , I know friends that are japanese and have the slide swimmers and imakatsu gillroids, Tbh i do not know how to start off with affordble gear or straight to the high priced stuff.
