August is HOT but so is the fishing!! Bass are predictable on hot days and become very easy to catch. We’re going to show you the best baits, and where to fish them so you can consistently catch fish throughout the month!
Heat is your friend! We’ve already done several videos talking about how bass position in the heat and how to predict their movements. Once you understand that positioning, all you need to do is fish these key lures with confidence. Summer fishing can be amazing and this is your year!
Below you’ll find links to the exact baits discussed in the video. We’ve listed them in the order they appear in the video and have included all the rigging components needed to fish them effectively. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

#August #fishing #bassfishing
Very knowledgeable angler for sure! I have figured them out but cannot land the big ones I hooked 4 this year I have lost sleepover and I don't know what I'm doing wrong but it sucks
Hey guys,Thank you for posting, I really enjoy watching. I'm in Kentucky. Where are you ? What area or areas do you fish mostly? Things are very different where I live. Bass fisheries are not exactly great. Just curious because this might not exactly apply where I am. 🙂
Why would you use a dropshot rig over a carolina rig?
Lmao the baby destroyer.
A tip I learned from my grandpa when dropshotting trick worms is to break off a piece of tooth pick and shove it in the tail end of the worm to also add buoyancy. Works great in Texas.
Also, don’t be afraid to keep a Texas rig tied in as he said. Creature baits still work in the dog days of summer
This time of year, I like to go to the smaller rivers and creeks where there's plenty of current and the water stays cooler and holds more oxygen. The bass act more like spring than the dog days of summer- and the current makes it easier to see where they're going to set up at. Anywhere there's a current break- something sticking out into the river that blocks the current or even a good-sized rock with a still spot right behind it, anywhere there's a curve in the river the current will wash away the bank on the outside until it hits rock- then it makes a vertical rock wall with a deeper pool right in front of it- they love these spots. And really- since you throw against the current and retrieve with it- it takes your bait right to them. They'll set up where the current delivers food to them- so just let the current take your bait and it will deliver it right to the bass. I reel just fast enough to keep the slack out of my line and keep my lure turned the right way and up off bottom- that's it. They hit it hard to- like they're trying to kill it.
Looking to buy my brother some nice baits. Our lake has bass, bluegill, krappie, and Sunny’s. Can anyone send some links for some baits??
Do you run the fluke on braid if you’re around grass?
I’ve loved fishing top water early in the mornings all summer. In my opinion you just can’t beat a top water bite. It’s so nice to watch the fish just demolish it
Why you throw back the fish on the water ?
Super helpful. August is probably one of the best months to fish
"actually it's like 6 or 7 I never quite hit 5 l, but I try" 😂😂😂 Hey matt, we don't mind! 🤙🤙🤙 Appreciate the extras brotha man 💯💯 btw, that was the hardest I've laughed in awhile! Thank you for that
I’m happy to see those owner cover shot hooks, because I lost one of my biggest fish drop shoting in heavy cover because my hook bent out. Definitely gonna pick some of those up.
Did he just really say that "up north, where there is no grass what so evere?!?!?!?!" I dont know when the last time you fished "the north" but we have TOOOONNNNS of weeds and grass!! Especially here in New England!
liked – good stuff.
@00:49 sounds like we got fish on top of fish lol.
This vid made me hit the sub button
Out of curiosity, why don’t you guys feature LEWS rods and reels?
How long of a leader do you use for your dropshot setup
Thank You!
How are you guys liking TN?
What should us Shore Guys be setting up. What should we be type of areas should we be looking for
Free rig a deps 4.8" bullflat catchin me big on a 9g weight
I just discovered your channel recently. I feel like I’ve struck gold. Great info. I’m already catching 3x the fish easily. Better quality fish too. Thank you so much!
<<<a cool video keep up the great content.. Thank you…
What is a drop shot
Yep. Another dynamite video from the boss!
awesome video im waiting for the night fishing video? hopefully next 🎣🐳🐳🐳🐳🐳
It’s not my favorite way to fish but a wacky rig is pretty tough to beat in the heat of summer with wary fish.
Excellent job Matt,thank you 👏👏👊
Great job… what about great lake smallies?
Hey Matt, how do you deal with line twist on a drop shot?
Whats different in Aug from July in the south not a dang thing lol everything thats been working still will work. We dont have changes here till later in the year like late sept and October.
