These baits get bit in spite of the heat! You’ve got to try them! If you’re struggling to get bit, it’s time to downsize. We’re at the beginning of a trend that will last all the way into Fall. Juvenile baitfish are beginning to show up in your lake, they’ll become more prevalent in the coming months and you need to be ready. Catch bass around them by downsizing your presentation!
We love power fishing! We love swimbaits, topwater, and large creature baits, but we also understand when it’s time to put them down. As the heat of August sets in, smaller profiles will save your fishing. Don’t be afraid to try these tiny soft plastics and hard baits when the going gets tough.
Below you’ll find links to our favorite baits for this time period. We’ve included our favorite colors, rigging components, as well as the gear we use to fish them effectively. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

What rod are you using when you are throwing that jackal frog? I have started throwing it and absolutely love it, but I have went all the way down to a medium heavy action rod and still cannot load it up with that light frog. Nervous about going down to a medium action or is that what I’m going to have to do.
What if I have no grass. My lakes a highland lake. Lake Cumberland.
Just back from surf fishing in Mexico for 6 weeks. Good times! That said, I’m looking forward to bass fishing again…. Being from So Cal, this means waiting until mid October to mid March! If it wasn’t for you and Matt, I would have never added blade baits ( Damiki Vaults ) to my arsenal nor would I be catching huge bass on big swim baits! Looking forward to your Fall and Winter videos! Been a subscriber since Matt was in his basement! Love and respect 💪🏻🎣
Hey Tim I’d like to invite you to come up to Fairfield Glade on the Cumberland Plateau near Crossville and fish Lake Dartmoor with me. Hit me up and let’s do it.
How many times has a shakeyhead salvaged my day, and helped me finish with a limit, at least? It's a bunch of times.
I don’t understand all these people buying chemicals or ice or whatever for their live wells. Hell, you don’t even need an aerator if you just have a bucket to change the water out or aerate yourself lol. Fishing is much more simple than most people realize.
Power shot saved my day yesterday, also tried a popper but after a bunch of little ones a Pike took my Megabass with him.
I caught a nice 3lber on a boosa shakey head worm Texas rigged on a dropshot the other day. That bait looks sexy coming through the water
Love using a Zaga Craw from NetBait for the micro flip
Springfield mo has dropped to 65 mornings and 75 evenings
Thanks Tim
Kaera get bit!!
The Micro chatter bait by Zman is dope this time of year or anytime where there are pressured fish. And right now that’s almost every where
Tim, in Florida this time of year I've had my best luck speed cranking deep ledges and grass during the middle of the day. I saved Texas rigged plastics for morning and evening.
Hey Matt and Tim, im gonna ask again. Can you please do an episode on upstate ny fishing? Preferably lake Champlain from the banks? Now that's a challenge. This place is wayyyy different than anywhere else in the country and the fish aren't as easy to catch
When it gets this hot I also use the tiny brush hogs is a very good bait also
You guys fished Center hill lake yet? It’s in middle Tn, kind of similar to dale hollow. Thanks for all the help
Tim my buddy got me one of those neck fans about a month ago for helping him out with some yard work/repairs, totally recommend it for both you and Matt! Keeps me so much cooler on the water, at work, at the house, I love that thing. I’m like you, I sweat a ton and it gets in my eyes, well, everywhere lol, and I gotta say it’s made a noticeable difference in the quality of my time on the water, it’s still hot, especially being in Texas, but it’s at least bearable a little bit longer with that
A lot of the bass in the lakes I am shoreline fishing right now are attacking every dragonfly that touches the water…the bass will leap clear out of the water to eat a dragonfly…they won’t eat any of our artificial baits…maybe I ought to try and catch a dragonfly to use for bait…..wonder why more lure companies don’t try to perfect an artificial dragonfly bait? 🤔
It’s too damn hot for anything right now! Good info tho!
My wallet can’t stand you, especially when it’s two of you 😂. One million coming soon
good stuff Tim – thanks! That downsized creature looks great and I've gotta try it
Great video Tim!
i know you guys put everything in the description of the videos. but do you have a location where you have a list of everything from all the videos?
remembering what item was in which video is a little difficult a year down the line
