Here are the top 5 baits we trust to catch bass in July! We’re entering the HOTTEST month of the year and the fishing is about to get good! Get ready to catch some bass!! You can fish these baits with confidence whether you’re walking the shore of a pond, exploring a reservoir, or flipping your way through a shallow Southern fishery!
As temperatures rise bass become lethargic and spend most of their time tucked against cover or structure. Once you know where to look (we’re going to explain that too) all you have to do is fish these baits with confidence. You can catch fish all Summer long and we’re going to help you do it!
Below you’ll find links to the exact baits we’re throwing throughout the month. We’ve included our favorite sizes and colors, and even a few of the combos we use to fish them effectively. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

I like to think Matt's boat is worth less than the amount of tackle in it.
Do you trim your skirts on the dirty jigs pitching jig?
Any tips for jig fishing for ponds? I feel like all the youtubers only talk about big lakes with lots of different types of structure but I live in delaware where there are really only ponds around. Ive been fishing since I was a kid but this is the first year I've ever tried using a jig… I've only caught one fish with a jig, it was a nice 4 pounder. I have a few colors of swim jigs, a couple football jigs, and couple I guess normal jigs.. but im guessing I'm just working them wrong because everyone swears by them but I just don't get bites with them
Thanks for that! I've been looking for an alternative to the P
What rods, lines, and reels, are good for each of these?
I recently decided to take the plunge into fresh water fishing and purchased a Daiwa Tatula XT 7' Medium spinning rod and a Daiwa Tatula XT 7'1 MH casting rod based on your video recommendations. I'm currently looking for a 3rd rod and I'm not sure what direction to go? I use the spinning rod for soft plastics, texas rigs, free rigs etc. and the casting rod for any hard baits (crank bait, toppers, frog etc). Should I be looking into a more jig focused rod for swim jigs, pitching and punching? Love the videos as I've learned so much, but this world of rods etc is pretty intimidating lol
"It's not hot yet."
laughs in Floridian
Well I can say I will never use any other swim jig then the dirt jigs now after my 6lb tonight. Told the wife I was going to public’s for food …. I lied 😂.
Zoom plum apple is my favorite trick worm color.
Is the wobble head good for bank fishing?
would love to see an in-depth popper video! just inherited my grandfathers tackle and it seems that was one of his favorite ways to fish. seems like it has its own rabbit hole I know you'd totally go down lol
I personally enjoy all the videos. All the information from every video is an awesome thing. I don't own a boat yet so i cant get out in the middle of the lake atm. Bit ive slowly been making changes to my tackle cuz of you Tacticalbassin guys. Been following since yall were in Cali. First video i saw was Matt in some overalls on a boat casting down a kinda narrow stream with no facial hair. Tryin to get me a Berkeley choppo.
I love y’all’s videos and y’all put in a ton of work thank you for everything y’all do! However one day I hope that y’all can maybe take some time to talk about trends and what fish will do during different patterns. For example, weather patterns like rain, wind, sunny, cloudy, fronts etc and maybe even explain what in your opinions on how the moon phases effect fish, the levels of lakes whether high or low. It is a subject I never see really talked about in depth with fishing and hoping one day y’all might share what y’all have learned on the subject! Thank you!
I love the shimano expride series rods you turned me on into. Do you have any recommendations for travel rods
It always boosts my confidence to hear yall praise a bait after I’ve already been throwing it! The dc frog is one of my favorites❤
What a high end rod for deep cranckbaits dt 20, 6 xd ?
Taking a camping trip in July, definitely going to try some of these.
Giant dog x and SB 77.7 even better pair for 1,2 punch 🤑
I have so many baits I don’t know what to use 😂
Why do you prefer the GLX 892s over the Steez AGS "The One" for swimbaits, finesse shakeyhead, and finesse underspins?
Great information, thanks again for sharing your knowledge. I sooo appreciate it!!
Matt, thanks for an outstanding video with your favorites for July. Agree with all your pics but have to throw in a chatterbaits. Specifically a 1/2 oz white Jackhammer with a 5&1/2 inch white Spunk Shad. You guys are the best.
Love it when I hear you guys say "and 4 more techniques to wrap it up"
Thanks for the info
yall working on this new panorama that dropped ? i wanna know yalls thoughts lmk
Thank you Matt,that was awesome 👏 👏👊
Aw yeah gotta love when you see that new tactical bassin video on the screen🔥👊
Gonna try to figure out how to walk the dog, but july in Michigan means grass, gunk and slime. Swimjig, t-rig, jig doesn't matter, I'm bringing in vegetation. 😢
The links didn’t work for me

You guys literally don't even teach us how to catch fish anymore. You guys are literally a commercial now. I've watched it change into this over the years. Sad I've been with you guys for at least 4 years
Hey, was out today and I could see a bait ball on the surface; not blowing up but just corralled right under the surface of the water in the middle of the pond. What’s a good bait to throw into that bait ball? I feel like I could see bass striking about a foot under water
What’s up Matt! I have a company recommendation for you. Toad Thumper Lures. Also I had a question with the previous video, with big worms what would be a good one for New York largemouth? Because I feel as if 15” big worm may be too big for a largemouth.
That MB fat finesse worm is where it's at! Don't let that cat out of the bag! Great info as always fellas.
Just got skunked this morning and I went to YouTube for answers and this is the first video I saw! Can't wait to get back out and try some of these methods
the new 6th sense BOOSA is insane on shakey head – incredible action.
It's ok Matt, grabbing the wrong worm….very understandable, as it's not easy picking the correct pack out of 6,391 packs of worms…Fellow LURE JUNKIE! 👍
Chatterbait bass love them hook them every time .and bug like fly bug u can use as top Watergate just slowly reel it in and take your pole go side to side make it look like it trying swimming pit of water make bass chase them and jump at bait
Bought a megabass big gabot 2 weeks ago and I've fished it 3 times now and caught my pb bass and multiple medium sized pike here in MN. Was having a tough year until I started fishing that frog.
Ever fish Lake Wawasee in northern IN?
Black angel lures has a smaller shakey head called the snitch and it freaking smashes em.
