Some basic knowledge for fishing for lingcod using swimbaits. When I first started targeting lings there was none of this info available. Just people talking about gear and baits, but never how to actually fish the swimbaits. Hopefully these basic tips help you get started swim-baiting for lingcod.

This was my 2nd trip for 2021. I’m usually only fishing for lings come September – December.

  2. Hey boss i see u have a shimano tekota i have a tekota 600 and ive used it 3 times and drag slips like no tomorrow on fish half the size of those lings u catch yours does not look like it slips at all did u get it modified too the carbon fiber drags?

    How many lingcod were caught swimbaits versus metal jigs that day?

    We’re you using the standard jig heads or the ones with the underspin blades?

  4. The best instructional ling cod video I have ever seen, very very well done! For beginners, I would add: If you lift your rod and it just feels spongy, set the hook, it is a ling cod. Sometimes they inhale it without really pulling on your line.
