These are the baits we trust to catch bass in September! Bass are transitioning to Fall patterns as water temperatures drop, and they’re feeding heavily on baitfish. If you’re not paying attention, the fish can disappear so its important that you rely on baits that can cover water quickly to locate fish.Throw these baits with confidence and you’ll catch fish all month long!
September can be amazing fishing! When you get around schooling fish the bite is like nothing else! Topwater, crankbaits, swimbaits, they’re all viable options. We spend very little time finesse fishing in September, instead leaning on fast moving, power fishing techniques to get consistent bites. The best part about September is that as you build patterns toward the end of the month, those patterns are likely to last all the way through the Fall and into the beginning of Winter.
Below you’ll find links to the baits Tim discussed in the video. We’ve included our favorite sizes and colors for each lure so you can fish them with confidence. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Ya. You did ooookay? Lol. Ha ha. Always super fun listing to u guys. Fallows you for so long. 10 plus years I think. Keep it up.
Love it, I'm sure you guys feel repetitious sometimes but, WE NEED IT! As always, great advice
Another great fishing video from TacticalBassin! NEW Fishing Youtube channel here, love watching your videos.
jerk bait always does me well during this time of year
Is there really a bait you didn't name?
Hey Matt, and Tim. Have y’all played with that Cashion topwater/jerkbait rod? Considering getting one, just don’t know anything about it.
Jerk bait slowing down, top water poppers, frogs and walkers killing it on 2lbers and smaller. Walleye have been digging on my jerkbait this year for some reason as well.
Gonna try those crank baits i think them bigger ones are in the deeper. They wont touch any jigs drop shots ect.
Your funny .you just threw the whole tackle box out there lmfao .
Before I watched this video, I've always loved the Strike King Caffeine Shad for the same reason you love the whiplash… THE SHIMMY. I also thought it was the only soft jerkbait to have that action on the fall. Easily one of my fav baits to fish!
I always throw the big craws weightless when I see blooms. Usually easier for them to get it on the first strike. I hate when they miss it and never go for it again. That part is annoying for sure
OMG Matt, what an incredible Smallmouth day 🏆🏆🏆
This guy kinda sounds like Benson from Regular Show.
Chatterbaits need Chatterspikes. You're welcome!
I love top water this time of year! Spro frogs are my go to. If I’m fishing open water it’s the whopper plopper. Both have caught me a lot of fish!
That Spri flapping frog has been my go to for the last few years! From spring all the way through the fall! The hook up ratio is incredible and just this year I have caught over 20 over 5lb plus fish👏😎 multiple seven and eight pounders as well.
Great top 5 really great for north east Tn
I’ve been fishing a fluke with a 1/16 oz belly weight ewg and it gets an awesome shimmy on the fall and have been very successful with it all year long.
Great choices. The only adjustment I've made, is putting my super flukes away and fishing a jerkbait (shadow rap11 black/silver) like a fluke. Hookup is much better and it seems to trigger the bigger fish. Fluke blowups are undeniable, but they often miss the single hook. Just recently, I tossed the shadow rap, turned to talk to a buddy before grabbing the reel handle, and a 4.3 pound largemouth exploded on it.
Why is their only budget gear posted? I want to know what yall actually use
Tactical Bassin 2034, Tim Jr., mini-me blasted her on the SPRO frog. Great form, reaction time, etc.
It can’t be any more simple than that, thank you Tim,awesome job ❤👏👏👏
I like the MANNS baby 1 minus it’s very similar to the BTC it seems like.. haven’t tried the BTC yet
What gear ratio for the small underspin if I put it on. Medium bait caster ?
That first frog clip was hilarious! That fish was FLYING
I love using a rapala dt 10 in a bluegill pattern in September. they work great on the edge of those grass lines. just cast parallel with the bank and the bass come out of the grass to get that thing.
Could you do a video on gizzard shad exclusive lakes?
They are such a weird fast growing species and lakes that have only gizzards are tricky to fish sometimes. I'm sure many of us could be doing things better.
He only put budget combos on here because so many men start mensturating and weeping when he suggests paying for quality gear.
Your son caught a hawg on that spro!?
