Can you still catch a swimbait bass on Clear Lake? (Hint: patience)

It’s coming up on that special time of year at Clear Lake, Ca! Springtime is a magical time on the lake. The trees are budding and blooming, the birds are pairing up, the tules & primrose are sprouting, and the bass are moving up!
Before the high winds and rain got to the lake, I had a narrow time window to get out to the mouth of the creek and throw a couple of swimbaits way out deep and use various retrieves to see if I could interact with an early mover. Anglers have been throwing medium to large swimbaits here for years. Sometimes it seems like every big bass has grown wise to us. Will they still bite it? It took some patients, but it paid off.
