  1. Maybe try going to a 4 inch spark shad or hazedong shad swimbait on those same spots next time when they short stroke the mag draft. I bet that would help you hook up with a few more bites.

  2. I’d say step up to a heavy rod and 18 lb to 20lb line. I just broke a MH today fishing a 6inch mag draft. Never broke a rod before. I was then treated to a jump show , while the fish tried to shake my magdraft. Missed my pb ten minutes before. Hookset wasn’t the greatest (I was hookset shy because I had just snagged my lure. I set the hook and she jumped and shook my magdraft right out. I. Wanted to cry. Ordered 3 more right after breaking my rod. These things are legit.

  3. I sometimes commit 10-12 hours to the big baits and won't get a bite. However, when I do it's always so rewarding. Once in a great while in the spring I can go out with an 8 inch bait and put fish in the boat all day. Those are the best days. Lol.

  4. OMG. I hate fishing in wind…Especially as a Kayak fisher! After this video, I feel I have a technique to learn and practice something new, even when there is wind! Thanks! Congrats on the wedding!

  5. You see with a swim bait u have to no what speed to reel it in to slow with a mag draft no good to fast no good if that head is not wobbling it won’t work u could get hit with wind or no wind your water looks stained and there’s wind and cloud cover 😐y are you using a black and clear swim bait not smart at all white or chartreuse when the water is wavey the light no longer penetrates and the speed u was reeling was way to fast with your mag look at your speed when u got bites it was a medium just right I have caught more fish on that lake with a mag draft with no wind then with wind your just not use to it yet

  6. Enjoyed the video very informative but please stop holding your catches horizontal by their jaw. This can result in an injured or broken jaw on the fish and can be fatal to the fish. Either keep them vertical or support the body. Keep up the good work.

  7. There are some outliers to the cloudy day rule for swimbaits. In Blue Back Herring lakes (because those herring seem to come out in the open on sunny days, opposite of shad) you can catch them mid day on sunny days on the lower clear side of the lake, in deeper water with SB's. But I completely agree with you for the majority of lakes in the southeastern US. Like you say, "fish the moment" on your lake, however it fishes! As always buddy, great content!

  8. Misleading title. Swimbait fishing is throwing big baits. A 6" bait hardly fits the catagory. Bigger baits equal bigger fish. Ask butch brown how he has more than 1100 double digit bass under his belt…

  9. Although I am a graduate alumnus of the U of A, I wouldn’t wear a red colored sweatshirt while fishing. Bold colors are easily seen by fish and therefore they can see a person wearing them. Just like matching the hatch, match the background environment with your clothing. Gray on cloudy days, blue on bluebird days. Razorback sweats come in gray too!

  10. Did you notice your mag draft rolling when reeling it in? I fished mine for the first time Saturday and I couldn’t get the retrieve right and I noticed it turning on it’s side a lot.
