I took out my ultralight fishing rods to do some smallmouth bass fishing in a small river… Again. In this episode, I only used a small paddle tail swimbait on a light jighead. I basically drifted it in the current and waited for aggressive little smalljaws to come hammer it. Micro swimbaits can be an excellent way to catch large quantities of both large and smallmouth bass. Also, make sure to watch out for the bonus fish I caught!

Is there an ultralight combo you would suggest for under $80? I like the Ugly Stix GX2 but feel like it might be too strong for the smaller fish I will be targeting

Smallies and wallies, oh good golly! I have yet to find the walleye here in Arizona. Supposedly the lakes I normally go to have them, but I’m not even sure they actually have fish at this point. I love ultralight and am definitely gonna get some of it done soon.

Fishing on an otherwise tight schedule… very interesting perspective for your Friday shows theme, Ethan. First thing that comes to mind is fly free while you can. Spiderman's Uncle Ben said it best: with a great wife and enormouse extended family, maintaining house and yard, flower, vegetable garden, tons of remodeling projects and a host of chirping or barking mouths to feed comes great responsibility.
