Ditch the Gamakatsu. Owner swimbait hooks have center pin screw locks.
Screw locks are by far the best rigging method for paddle tails.
Try the Owner CPS if youβre having trouble centering the screw.
βnot gonna get big if they are not small firstβ legendary

As usual Glen your videos are so good, I always learn a bucket full of education. One question, what size hooks were you using here? Thanks in advance and please keep it coming
OMG I just had a total blonde moment. I've been forcing the bait over weight for years and it didn't even occur to me. WOW that was a brain fart! I've been officially schooled professor
Trying to understand your trick with the weighted hook, (around the 3 minute mark in the video) it appears that you have to do this before you tie the line to the hook correct?
I probably caught more fish on a swim bait than any other bait but I also fish a swimbait more than any other bait I don't know just seems pretty practical and almost every condition I've caught him in cold water in the middle of January I've called him in dead heat of 100 degrees where it's super hot I'm slow rolled them I burned them I popped and pause them, it really just doesn't seem to matter I just catch fish on swimbaits particularly the paddle tail ones. And I always have one title no matter what. A good all-around color option for just about any water is like a smoky ghost or a ufoula special type of color
Great tip at the beginning
What happened to my previous post a few days ago?
Enjoyed it. Nice video and love the tips.
Gray video Glen I've been watching your videos for a while I was pretty good video thank you
what is your favorite knot for general use?
No leader?
i use a polymer knot and dont seem to have a problem with it running off center ,Glenn
paddle tails i think are a great versatile bait. even as a search bait.
They make lock screws with a center wire, to make centering in the bait easier.
Not a lot of grass but this is a technique we use in fall winter and spring.
Great info and some new techniques to try. Thanks.
I have quite a few swimbaits but not much confidence in them. After seeing this video I think it will be easier for me to give them a much longer try . I don't give them much time but think that the next time I go out it will be with just swimbaits in order to give them a fair chance. video was great
Nice hack for rigging a weighted hook.
Nice
Another awesome video. Thank you for the tips!
Thanks for all the useful info in your videos. Very helpful!
I really like using swimbaits, too bait I never get any fish with them
I've really wanted to try these particular swimbaits and my friend uses them all the time for smallmouth fishing.
Fishing Swims in New Mexico this weekend
Thereβs quite a bit here that I havenβt tried yet. Thanx for the great info!
Great video!
I know they catch fish but they are a technique to cover water but still slower than I usually fish a crank bait. Hard to make myself slow down.
I prefer the screw lock because I fish Kietech and they're a little more pricey than some of the other brands. I get more life out of them with the screw locks.
Email said awarded Jul 27th got on Aug 20th however still love your posting . I use swim baits you r so right about the screw in hooks I have noticed that. Nice trick on hooks will have to try that.. What size weight do u use?? 30 lb fire line.. will have to switch to that been using 20lb.. going to try burning it back and the bottom drag.. Pitching?? really never thought of that..Matching makes sense..gotta remember the colder months tip..nice fish at the end..Love ya Glenn
I really enjoy swimbaits it makes catching bass so simple
I haven't fished much with swimbaits, but after your tips on this video I feel like I can give it a try. I'm glad i stuck around for the entire video! Thanks for the tips!
These have been my go to comfort bait for the past several months. Have caught tons of fish on them.
Great tips, subbed.
Great tips Glenn! I use a a 5/0 1/16oz swim bait hook with a screw lock that has a centering pin. I throw it on a MH with 50lb braid.
With this set up I start out with a horny toad across pads and grass. I can then change to a mag speed worm or rage craw buzz it and drop it into holes. Iβll put on a paddle tail and work the edges. Iβve also put a large stick bait (fat ace) with a spinner in the tail and have had success with that. I can fish all morning with the same rig just switching baits (another tip I got from Glenn).
1/4, 3/8, or 1/2oz Jighead with a stout hook or a 3/8oz swimjig, 3.75-4" paddle tail are perfect for SMB and LMB. Pike like em too
I really enjoy these shows. They help me with my bass fishing. Keep up the good work.
I'll need to try some paddle tail next time out.
this is a great well explained-understandable-well presented swim bait fishing technique video!!!!
