My Profile:
http://www.mattstefanfishing.com/

I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I’ve been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I’ve qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.

  1. Awesome video!!! Thanks for those great tips!! Liked the one about using a larger hook size with a belly weight something I've never thought of myself, second putting on a light bullet weight when around grass to get the head down & tail up!! How about using a paddle tail on a buzzbait?? Just a thought I had. Stay Safe & God Bless!!! 🤠👍

  2. Matt, I use the Jika Rig for swimbaits. I fish it anywhere in the water column. It works very well around timber, it's pretty weedless. It looks like a bait fish chasing a bug to me. MB

  3. Love throwing swimbaits, I will throw them more then crankbaits. With you being a tackle junky you should check out Driftwood Custom Baits and take a look at their swimbaits. I actually have a 4.25" one that is still in service that is now my lucky swimbait that I have used for 3 years that I will bring out when I need to catch one to save my day. It isn't pretty anymore but it will still catch fish.

  4. Always WELL worth ones time to watch your content. I have spent more money using your link this year alone at Tackle Warehouse than in the previous five years at least combined. And that's fine because using your suggested soft plastics, hooks, jig heads chatterbaits and spinnerbaits and presentations of same I caught not just more bass but more and bigger quality bass from March 1st till July 1st of 2024 than all of 2022 and 2023 combined easily
FIRST cast back in March of one of your #1 recommend sping time prespawn luers a 3/8oz black blue sparkle flake chatterbait with a crimson red trailer yielded a 5lb 11oz bass which is an absolute Hog for the lakes nearest my home. And from that day forth till post spawn my sons and I using your recommend chatterbaits spinnerbaits and trailers for same had our best spring bass fishing ever all of us caught and released (we 100% release all bass asap) more 3lb+ bass than ever before and had more 20+ bass days than ever before. Ended up being our best spring bass season ever.
Thanks more than a I can say.

  5. I have all the hooks, and Tush and Owner beast and flashy swimmers, and I am going to use the wobble heads too. One of my club members fishes them on the Tokyo rig, ticking them through rocky points😮

  6. I’m getting ready for my 2 clubs to kick off our fall tournaments, and I am looking forward to putting the CullShad to work 😜 sometimes just paying attention to your tips get me fired up to go practice, but, I’m watching this one at midnight 😂😂😂 which still has me thinking 😂😂🍀🎣🍀👏👏👏😊

  7. I love a Vmc rugby head. Only comes as big as a 3/0 but that size works killer for 3.25 boot tail to run it with some weight but still weedless. There are tons of different weights too. Works great in the river where I need some weight to offset the current. Caught the most fish ever in a day throwing mostly that for smallies last weekend.

  8. swimbait rigged on belly weighted hook with willow blade underspin has been catching me a lot of fish this summer. its hard to find those underspin hooks in local stores though.

  9. Another great video as always Matt. I was wondering if you were going to talk about rigging a swim bait on a Wobble head. Another great way to rig a swimbait which is not conventional is rigging it on a jika rig. You can catch a lot of fish on that rig. Plus I think it's Superior to a wobble head jig because the fish cannot use the weight to its advantage to throw the hook. Or a Tokyo Rig. Another way to fish it is. I've seen guys flip swim baits into mats like a punch rig or a heavy tungsten weight. You could also use the Jika rig to flip the swim bait.

  10. I was splitshotting the Keitech Swing Bait yesterday; caught 3 smallies & a LM.
i like these line-through underspins —> Slip Shad DropSpin Jig (TREBLE HOOKS!)
It's hard to beat the action of line-through plastics.

  11. Perfect timing for this video. I ordered several packs of the Berkley Cullshads & Grass Pigs a few days ago. I love to add a small spinner blade with a hitchhiker or the TRD Spinz.

I also just made up a few of those inline wire froms with a spinner on them. Similar to the Picaso All Terrain Inline Jigs. I do it all the time for pike/musky to get some flash & vibration. I think they call them Dozers.

I forgot about the swing head to get a seedless bottom presentation. Thanks for the tips, Matt!
